The lower trailhead of the Monroe Run Trail is located adjacent to campsite 62 at Big Run State Park. A small parking area is available. The Monroe Run Trail is open to hikers only - no mountain bikes or ATVs.
From Interstate 68, take Exit 22. Follow Chestnut Ridge Road south 2 miles to the end, and turn left on New Germany Road. Follow New Germany Road south 5 miles, and make a left on Big Run Road. Follow Big Run Road east 5 miles to the end. The park is located at the intersection of Big Run Road and Savage River Road. Campsites-numbered 60 through 90-are located at the intersection and along Big Run Road.
